Friday was movie night here with the Ipes. We rented Ghost Town, a 2008 movie starring Ricky Gervais and Tea Leoni. My friend Doug, who used to work in tv media advertising, told me once that it is called a “high concept” movie. Have you seen the trailer? It’s basically the entire movie. which has become a cliche, if you ask me. Self-centered fellow goes through traumatic event, can now talk to ghosts, and becomes a better person. Cook it up, put it in the fridge, warm it up and serve again next year.
Ricky Gervais is a good actor, but the overall story hit the usual bases, didn’t hit home at all, and was entirely predictable. Well, except for the buses. 🙂 If you want to watch it, catch it on cable tv.
