Super 8 (2011)
It’s taken a while, but I finally watched the entire film Super 8 online through Netflix. It’s a 2011 J.J. Abrams film (written and directed) that I had been meaning to watch back when it was in theaters, but the timing … Continue reading

It’s Spring Break here, and the kids have the week off from school. My in-laws agreed to watch the kids Monday and Tuesday (with a sleepover Monday night.) What to do with our free time? How about a date night … Continue reading

Oz: The Great and Powerful (2013)
For Josh’s birthday, the Ipes decided to hit our nearest AMC dine-in theater to watch Oz: The Great and Powerful (2013), a prequel of sorts based on the L. Frank Baum books from the turn of the century, and also to … Continue reading
Pitch Perfect (2012)
Saturday night, after Num’s surprise birthday party, after my sister and family went home, and after the kids went to bed, we watched Pitch Perfect (2012), a film about college kids and a cappella singing competitions. If you have seen … Continue reading
Despicable Me (2010)
One of the films that the kids got for Christmas this year was the 2010 Universal Pictures summer hit Despicable Me. The animated film stars Steve Carrell as Gru, a super-villain who adopts three orphaned girls as part of his … Continue reading
A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
Well, that was an interesting movie. As per tradition, when my buddy Doug and I get together to see a film, we pick the most interesting of the dumb action films currently in release with big, nonsensical explosions. Why? It’s … Continue reading
BioShock Infinite comes out in March 2013, and it looks great
The more I see of this game, the more I’m intrigued.
The Ipes got all classy for dinner and an evening with the NJ Symphony Orchestra
For Christmas, I bought us tickets to see the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. I’ve never been to the NJ PAC before, so this was a treat for everyone. My wife and I made … Continue reading

The kids liked The Karate Kid (1984)
And can you blame them? The kids and I watched the 1st half of the film throughout the week in bits and spurts, but we all watched the 2nd half Friday night. They definitely liked it a lot — they … Continue reading
Ipe Family Movie Nite is coming up – 1984’s The Karate Kid
The kids have been on a recent karate / ninja state of mind, so we’re watching the 1984 classic The Karate Kid starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. On blu-ray. This should be interesting. I hope they like it.
