For months, we promised Lily that we would buy her bicycle of her own. For a year, she’s been attempting to get around and keep up with Josh by pedaling away on his old Batman big wheel, but she could never keep up with him. Finally, we took her to the local bicycle shop to let her choose one for herself.
She wanted a blue bicycle, but they only had pink or purple, so she chose a purple one, and a matching helmet. So that Josh didn’t feel left out, we also bought him a horn. It’s been two days now, and she’s fallen over on multiple occasions, but that’s to be expected. I don’t have expectations that she’ll learn to ride sans training wheels either, as it took some time for him to reach a certain comfort zone. Maybe next year or 2014. There’s no rush.
