My father-in-law recently celebrated his 70th birthday party. Since it was his 70th, my wife and her family decided to celebrate this momentous milestone with a large catered party with extended family and their friends. My wife’s family handled all the logistics, and I volunteered to MC the event. My wife and I also put together a slideshow of old family photos, and a home movie of his grandchildren singing a song.
The event went well, and I think I was entertaining and charming (as always!) as the the MC. Looking back, I’ve worn the MC hat for many events… since at least 1992 at a church youth retreat. It’s a little ironic, as I was always a shy kid growing up. Sometime between mid-1991 and early 1992, I came out of my shell, and developed a more outgoing personality.
