I was up late doing some work, and I figured I’d watch my latest movie in the Netflix queue while I worked — Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. A review of the sequel should include a little background on the original movie. I like a lot of aspects of the story, mythology, and characters from the series so far. I like all that occult stuff, plus the idea that there is a lot going on that we in the normal world are not aware of. Maybe that’s why I liked the original Ghostbusters movie and the 80’s animated series when I was a kid. 🙂
Hellboy 2 was another decent movie from Del Toro. It had good action, amazing creatures and special effects, and I liked the story. I didn’t like the ending to the original movie (too cliched), but the ending to this movie was much more satisfying. I say it was a decent movie, as it still felt as if there were so many themes thrown in, but Del Toro and the writers never dug deeper to focus on the key themes.
