Friday night out and about without the kids

We planned a day (and evening) without the kids the day after Christmas. After having a Chackos & Ipe slumber party at our house Christmas night, we jointly dropped off the three cousins to their grandparents’ house for Slumber Party continued.

The two of us had a quick lunch of leftovers at home, packed our overnight bag, then drove to our first event, a couples massage in Lawrenceville. Technically only my 3rd massage ever. After I got beaten up, we checked in for our one-night stay at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton. We bid for and won a night (plus breakfast) at the Hyatt through a church auction back in November.

I forgot a few key items back at the house, drove back myself to get them, then back to the hotel. We got ready, then drove into Princeton proper for a delicious dinner at Despaña Princeton. Tapas and sangria really hit the spot.

After dinner, we drove straight back to the hotel for the next leg in our itinerary. The hotel hosts a comedy club called Catch a Rising Star. We bought tickets a head of time as there seemed to be a decent comedian, Max Dolcelli, performing that night. While the MC spent most of the time during his act awkwardly hitting on women in the audience, Max Dolcelli as the main act was way better.

We couldn’t sleep afterwards, so we rented Gone Girl off of the hotel’s On Demand system. Not a bad film, but the film went longer than I expected, what with all the plot twists and turns.

Breakfast time, and we don't have to cook it up either!

In the morning, we grabbed our included breakfast, relaxed some more back in our room, then checked out at noon. We ran a few shopping errands along Rt 1, then went to pick up the kids.

It was good to get away, even for just one night.
