We arranged with my parents to take the kids over Memorial Day weekend, so that we could begin the process to clean and pack up the house in earnest without distraction. Having the kids around isn’t bad, but with all that we had to do, it made more sense to have them out of the way.
On Saturday, my wife spent her day focusing on cleaning out the house, while I worked on the outside landscaping. We also rented a larger storage locker and truck, and began taking a lot of our boxed possessions to storage. Why? We need to declutter, and it will be tough to sell a house when your stuff is cluttering it up.
It was a beautiful weekend — I wish we had been able to enjoy more of it!
