Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

I finally watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on DVD last night. Although it has been almost 20 years since we saw Indy in action back in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, it was nice to see him in action again.  Having said that, Indiana Jones looked old.  No, not old.  Old. How was he running around like that?  Indy is Indy, but he’s basically a little younger than my father.  My father is not running around like that, leaping rocks, etc. Suspension of disbelief.

I think a healthy suspension of disbelief was necessary to watch this movie.  Some people minded the jump to the 1950’s and the B-movie alien plot, but I was okay with that.  Why not?  A little sci-fi never hurt anyone.  However, from Indy running around in his old age, the chase through the Amazon jungle, the nuclear blast and the refrigerator, there was a lot that the viewer has to doubt as even remotely believeable.  Finally, while I liked seeing the characters again, and the special effects were decent, the entire third act started to fall apart, as you thought to yourself, “Er, I don’t know.  And now what’s happening?  Um, okay.  Is this movie getting less interesting?”
