I am 99% sure now that I want to get a PlayStation 3 game console. I was talking it over with my wife this evening, and I think I want it. I’ve been weighing it in my head, but I’m overthinking it. It’s a game console that I can play some fun games when I need to decompress. Plenty of games that I want to play are now available, such as God of War III, Half Life 2, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and Bioshock. I think it would be fun to play games more often.
Who knew? I was always under the assumption that our manufacturing was dwindling by the day. Instead, manufacturing in the United States isn’t dead or even dying. It’s moving upscale, following the biggest profits, and becoming more efficient.
The U.S. by far remains the world’s leading manufacturer by value of goods produced. It hit a record $1.6 trillion in 2007 — nearly double the $811 billion in 1987. For every $1 of value produced in China’s factories, America generates $2.50.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Nothing better than a 3-day weekend.
Friday night, we dropped the kids off to the in-laws, and headed off to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse for Valentine’s Day dinner, one day early. Gooooood dinner. We got the rest of the night off from the kids, which was so nice. No one asking for water, no waking us up to announce they “got poops”, or any crying at 7am to wake us up to change a diaper and eat breakfast. Oh, it was glorious.
We spent the rest of the weekend bumming around, doing some shopping, cleaning up, purchased two new fish for the aquarium, church, etc.
On Presidents’ Day itself, I dropped off the kids in the morning to school, then my wife and I took an awesome nap for a few hours. We haven’t done that in years. In the afternoon, we had a tex-mex lunch at Chevy’s (we weren’t impressed), ran some errands, and bought some clothes for us (and the kids).
A pretty relaxing weekend. We still haven’t watched our latest movie from the Netflix queue — Be Kind Rewind starring Jack Black. Maybe later this week. Back to the grind on Tuesday.
